x500 sulfur can be obtained from the simple component box for 90 caps at the shop. Sulfur is a tier 3 component so there is a 50% chance of obtaining something from the third tier, and even a smaller chance of actually getting sulfur.

During version 666, sulfur was rewarded to the player after killing the devils at the pentagram.
A "Beginning chemist" kit could be bought from the shop which included this item for 500 caps.
Could be obtained from colloidal sulfur bags which are no longer obtainable, but if the player still has them on his inventory he can open them to get the sulfur inside.
