Rats are the first enemies the narrator will encounter upon starting the game as a tutorial fight. Weak and easy to kill, rats make good raw meat source.
This creature has a stronger radioactive variant, the radioactive rat.
Attack[]
The rat has a weak melee attack consisting in biting the narrator or his pets. These critters don't posses any special abilities, ranged attacks or extras to aid during battle.

When spoiled, the rat carcass will turn into 5 rotten meat.
Encounters[]
- If the narrator sleeps without a fire, there's a chance of getting supplies eaten by rats.
- A rat can be summoned to the battle field either by attacking or by standing near a manhole in the battlefield. Summoned rats will attack enemies and allies alike.
Missions[]
- Rats are featured at the beginning of the game in the tutorial fight.
- During the mission Darkness and Cold, the narrator will notice some crushed skull bones near the skeleton of a soldier. He mentions that the soldier won his final battle against the attacking pack of rats.
Trivia[]
- The rat image in-game has changed many times.
- On older versions, there used to be a third variant of the rat, the "pack of rats", this variant was eliminated during the v444 combat update.
- A dead rat could be turned into a tailed rissole or a fried rat, both were food items.
