Details

Potato is an organic food ingredient that is mainly used for cooking purposes. It can't be eaten raw however survivors can fry it to satiate a little bit of hunger. For trading purposes, potato is crucial as a source to obtain Salt. Potato is processed into Moonshine, synthesized to Alcohol and traded for salt in Arzamas Survivor Camp. Salt is basically used in every crafting schemes and is vital for survival.

Potato has a very long shelf-life, spoiling for almost a month which is ideal for long distance travelling. Once spoiled, it will turn into Rotten Vegetables which can be used as a bait for fishing.

Obtaining

	Description
Wasteland	Potato can be randomly found in wasteland as an Abandoned Potato Field while searching. The chance of the event occurring is very rare and depends mostly on survivors luck.
Trader	Another way to obtain potato is through trading. Tver Survivor Camp offers this opportunity, trading 1 Poison for 2 Potatoes.
Forest Merchant	The forest merchant is basically another NPC trader that is very special and can only be found in the forest in extreme conditions. However, if survivors manage to encounter this elusive trader, the merchant is willing to trade 2 Cigarettes for 1 Potato.
Greenhouse	Survivors can extract seeds from potato. The greenhouse needs 100 units of Potato Seeds to operate it, which means it needs a total of 20 potatoes for extraction. Once planted, survivors need to wait for 4 months and when it's ripe, it will yield 75-125 units of potatoes, which can be further improved with the Farmer Perk.
Bandit Forts	The last option and is most likely to give survivors a bit of challenge would be looting bandit fortifications. There are only 3 bandit forts that offers potato as reward and they are Izhevsk, Locomotiv and Shadrinsk bandit forts. Best for survivors to get geared before raiding these forts.
