In history
Created for combat in close quarters and as a self defense weapons for vehicle personnel, the PPS started as the PPS-42 and later modernized into the PPS-43, the gun is not an assault rifle but rather a submachine gun.
Designed by Alexei Sudayev after a petition made by the soviet army to reduce the costs and manufacturing time that the PPSh-41 had, the PPS-43 was designed to be manufactured and assembled faster and cheaper than the PPSh-41.
The PPS-43 saw service in the soviet force until 1960 although it can still be found in service on some African and Asian countries.

Trivia
- The PPS-43 is actually a submachine gun, not an assault rifle.
- This can be seen in that it takes 7.62x25mm Tula Tokarev, which is a pistol round, and in-game it is also assembled and repaired with pistol parts.
- The PPS is a family of Soviet submachine guns chambered in 7.62×25mm Tokarev, developed by Alexei Sudayev as a low-cost personal defense weapon for reconnaissance units, vehicle crews and support service personnel. (Wikipedia)
- It was designed in 1942.
- It is interesting that these weapons would be so widely available at the point where the are mostly considered relics.
