A forest is an area dominated by the trees distributed around the map. It is the best place to gather wood, herbs, and hunt animals, also to make shelter because it granted no radioactive background. On the game's world map, forests are green areas overdrawn with trees, unlike its different variant, Radioactive Forest, which identified by more reddish theme.

Chopping Wood

Firewood can be collected by randomly finding it or cutting down trees, although using items like axes will make the chopping faster and use lower energy. Chopping will always consume some amount of the durability of the used item, or completely wear down it.

Below given the am ount of wood that collected by various methods :

(This data is collected without Lumberjack perk, which only affects the speed of chopping wood.)

  • Bare hand (10 pcs/hour) - up to 7:00 hour for 70 firewoods. Consumed 70 points of energy.
  • Rusted axe (30 pcs/hour) - up to 1:40 hour for 50 firewoods, will wear down the axe completely.
  • Axe (30 pcs/hour) - up to 5:00 hour for 150 firewoods, will wear down the axe completely.
  • Steel axe (30 pcs /hour) - up to 8:00 hour for 240 firewoods, will wear it down by 80%.
  • Chainsaw (90 pcs/hour) - up to 05:33 hour for 500 firewoods, will wear down the chainsaw completely.


Trivia

  • It can be a good idea for the Survivor to build his base in the forest because he will be able to chop wood without wasting energy or gasoline for transport. He will need a lot of wood for making coal or to build his base.
  • Since v.701, the Dugout Shelter (aka. Forest trader) is removed.
