" With a fire, you get better sleep. "
A fire is crucial. It allows you to cook, purify water, and make many recipes. Its usefulness makes it an essential part of the game.
You can make multiple fires at the same time and they will stack like other items. When one goes out, the next one will be used. With this, you can stack like 100 fires at your base and always have one going.
A source of fire is required to quickly kindle a fire. Without such a source, kindling a fire will take 3 hours.
If you have existing fire (brick oven excluded), it can be used to kindle another fire. Kindling another fire with an existing fire is considered crafting, and the time is affected by Magic touch perks, unlike kindling from source of fire, which always takes the same amount of time for all players.
- Can be extinguished to obtain coal as a result.
- If you are in a building where you intend to search for loot, be sure to extinguish any fires. Otherwise you risk lighting the whole building on fire, losing all the loot and getting burns on your legs/arms.
- Fire repels wild animals, so you will not be attacked in your camp if you have a burning fire.
- If you have Honey in the camp and no fire, there is chance to get ambushed by a bear while sleeping and lose your backpack + Honey (+ tent?).
