The old submarine was a location southeast-ish of belomorsk, three lootable cabins are containing a radio, ten radio parts, a table of military ciphers, a bulletproof vest, three skeletons with normal clothes, a few officer caps, 4 pieces of sun-dried meat, an AK-74 rifle, 30 AK-74 cartridges, and many odds and ends.

The loot here is a nice spot to scavenge for anyone playing the older versions where this location is still present. (All images, except for the bottom one with black X marks, were provided by dayRman.)

However, the submarine has been removed since at least after version 1.388.9, the locations been gone for at least 4-5 years. Radio parts were needed to repair the electric car, as well as fic the radio needed to go though searching for the truth.

Real life yankee-class Soviet K-420 submarine

The real-life variant

in real life, the K-420 is a Yankee class submarine apart of the soviet Project 667A Navaga. they were originally built as a ballistic missile submarine, which explains the radio, radio parts, and ciphers. The submarine "K-420" was converted to test the "Meteorite" (SS-N-24) cruise missiles. The re-equipped submarine received the designation 667M (Yankee SSGN or Yankee Sidecar). The length and the width of the SSBN were increased up to 153 m and 15-16 m respectively.

This could mean that the submarine perhaps was related to the retribution quest. Where the survivor launches nuclear missiles towards the united states/western Europe in revenge for the illegal invasion, destruction, and biological warfare that led to mass genocide against the USSR.

Or the purpose of the submarine could have been a reference to a real-life event during the Cuba missile crisis when the human race was 1 decision away from 1 billion+ death and assured destruction. Hence the three skeletons found on the submarine, as there were three officers in charge of the nuclear weapons. Outside of the pressure hull 12 launchers for the SS-N-24 missiles were located
