Crossbow bolts can have poison put on them if you have the perk Poisoner. An enemy shot with one of these poisoned bolts, in addition to taking the standard damage for crossbows, will take an additional 15 damage per round for 2 turns.
In order to use poison crossbow bolts, crossbows need to be "converted" to allow them to use poisoned bolts as ammo. To convert them, simply scroll down on the crossbow. The option to convert the crossbow is right there.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
While this item can be traded in online mode, it cannot be used unless the player has the Poisoner perk.
This item can only be used with Standard Crossbow, Improved Crossbow and Heavy Crossbow. Event crossbows, such as Helsing (gun) do not work with these poison bolts.
