On history Edit

Designed by Igor Stechkin in 1948 and entering service in 1951, the Stechkin automatic pistol (Avtomaticheskiy Pistolet Stechkina) is a machine pistol with selective fire capabilities made especially for tank, aircraft and artillery crews where their space was too cramped or their main weapons were too heavy to carry an assault rifle.

The gun was issued with a 20 round magazine and a buttstock that served two purposes, the first one was to aid in the controlability of the when recoil when in full auto fire and, second, the stock was hollow to be used as a holster for the weapon.

It was well recieved by the armed forces of the soviet army and appraised for its power and handling, but the weapon downfall came when the armed forces decided to replace it with the AKS74U compact assault rifle favoring it for its caliber, cost, and ease of maintenance on 1981.
